Financial Concerns can interfere with people’s ability to access psychological services such as counselling/psychotherapy and psychological testing that is not covered by OHIP. In response to this reality, we provide low-fee psychological services through our student internship program. The intent of the program is to provide not-for-profit service to those in our community without access to insurance coverage, who would otherwise be unable to access psychological services.
Low-fee services are still effective in helping adults, children, and couples alike. Many adults suffer from anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties in their home and working lives. Many children and adolescents have trouble with school, mental health issues, ADHD, anxiety, or problems overcoming a tough transition (such as a divorce, a move, or serious illness). Although our interns are not yet fully accredited, they have received extensive training and can provide the help that you or your family may need.
Services will be provided by our internship students in graduate studies in clinical/counselling psychology and family therapy under the direct supervision of Dr. Ken Kwan, Ph.D., RMFT, C.Psych. In order to respond to the community’s needs, we offer the first three consultation sessions at no charge.
