Dr. Ken Kwan, Ph.D., RMFT, C.Psych.,
Executive Director/Psychologist
Dr. Kwan is the Founder and Executive Director of Oshawa Psychological & Counselling Services serving  Oshawa and surrounding communities in Durham Region, and Woodbine Psychological & Counselling Services serving Markham and surrounding communities in York Region.

Dr. Kwan is a registered psychologist in clinical and counselling psychology with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families as his primary client groups. Dr. Kwan has about 20 years of clinical counseling experience and has been in various clinical leadership capacities including being the Clinical Director of Family Services York Region. He was first registered as a chartered psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists in 1988 and with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in 2003. He is also a registered marriage and family therapist, and a clinical member and approved supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and a registered sex therapist with the Board of Examiners in Sex Therapy & Counselling in Ontario (BESTCO).

In addition, Dr. Kwan is a sessional lecturer/associate graduate faculty member and clinical supervisor with the Counselling Psychology, and School and Clinical Child Psychology programs at OISE, University of Toronto, and an adjunct practice professor with the Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto; and a part-time faculty member with the School of Kinesiology & Health Sciences, York University.

In his 20 years of counselling and psychotherapy experience, Dr. Kwan has worked with patients on issues that include anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, ADHD, conduct and school problems, family relationship conflicts, couple relationship difficulties, coping with chronic illness and injuries, domestic violence and child abuse, and sexual dysfunctions. He uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including emotionally-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, structural family therapy, and narrative therapy. He is fluent in English and Chinese (Cantonese), and can offer services in either language.





Cathy Gray
Manager, Client Services/Administration
Ms. Gray is a graduate of the 3-year Business program with a double major in Marketing and Business Administration from Canadore College of Applied Arts and Technology in North Bay, Ontario. She has over 15 years experience in marketing and office assistance. In addition, she is also an active community volunteer. She has served as a board member in a number of community organizations and committees including Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) and VOICE for Hearing Impaired Children.

Dr. Monica Apostol, Ph.D., C.Psych. (Supervised Practice)
Psychologist

Dr. Apostol is a registered psychologist (Supervised Practice) in Clinical and School Psychology with the College of Psychologist of Ontario. Her primary client groups include children, adolescents, and families. She also provides psycho-educational assessment and counselling for socio-emotional issues to young adults as part of her clinical practice. Dr. Apostol obtained her M.A. and Ph. D. degrees in School and Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Toronto in 2001 and 2007 respectively. She completed her internship at the Hincks-Dellcrest Treatment Centre, a well known children’s mental health Centre in Toronto, where she was trained in attachment-based and psychodynamic approaches to assessment and therapy of preschoolers, children, and adolescents. For the past seven years, Dr. Apostol has worked in a variety of clinical capacities with children, adolescents, and young adults in settings such as Toronto District School Board (TDSB), Accessibility Services, University of Toronto, and the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Apostol has experience providing assessment and/or intervention services to a range of presenting concerns including academic difficulties, giftedness, learning disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, developmental disabilities, behavioural problems, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. Currently Dr. Apostol is a Psychologist (Supervised Practice) at Toronto District School Board. At Oshawa Psychological and Counselling Services, Dr. Apostol offers psychological assessment and counselling/ psychotherapy to children and adolescents.






Dr. Mary Hum, Ph.D., C.Psych.
Psychologist

Dr. Mary Hum has been practicing in the areas of school and child clinical psychology for 9 years. She has worked in a variety of settings including school boards, family services, hospitals, and community mental health agencies. She obtained her Ph. D. in School and Clinical Child Psychology from University of Toronto in 2004. She is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario since 2006 in the areas of school, clinical and counselling psychology with children, adolescents, and families as her primary client groups. Dr. Hum’s primary practice focus at Oshawa Psychological and Counselling Services is providing comprehensive psychological assessments to children and adolescents, using a client-focused and strength-based philosophy in her work. Depending on the referral question, she sees the goals of assessment as to enhance the understanding of a child’s cognitive, academic, behavioral, social, and/or emotional processes to guide remediation and treatment. Dr. Hum has experience with a range of presenting concerns such as academic related issues, giftedness, learning difficulties, behavioral problems, attention deficit, hyperactivity and impulsivity, peer relations and social skills, bullying and victimization, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger control, parent-child relationship problems, and family conflicts.

Audra McManus, M.Ed., Dip. A.T., ATR
Senior
Art & Play Therapist/Psychotherapist
Ms. McManus obtained her post-graduate diploma in art therapy from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute where she has been a faculty member for the past six years. Ms. McManus is a registered art therapist with the American Art Therapy Association, and an approved supervisor with the Ontario and Canadian Art Therapy Association. In addition to art therapy, Ms. Manus also provides individual and family counselling and psychotherapy as well as play therapy. She has over 15 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families on issues including adjustment, family relationship conflicts, parenting, depression, anxiety, and trauma, domestic violent and child abuse. Currently, Ms McManus is a counsellor/therapist and clinical supervisor at Family Services York Region.




Dr. Micheline Savard, Psy.D., C.Psych. (Supervised Practice)
Psychologist

Dr. Savard is a registered psychologist (Supervised Practice) in Clinical Psychology with the College of Psychologist of Ontario.  Her primary client groups include adolescents, adults, couples, and families.  She obtained her Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology in 2005 and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2008 from the Adler School of Professional Psychology, Chicago, Illinois.  Dr. Savard completed a doctoral practicum in the Anxiety Disorder Clinic at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and also in the Outpatient Mental Health Program at Lakeridge Health Centre.  She completed her internship in both the Outpatient and Inpatient Mental Health programs at Lakeridge Health Centre.  Dr. Savard is also a graduate of the Post Graduate Program of Training & Supervision in Gestalt Therapy from Gestalt Institute of Toronto in 2001. Dr. Savard is a certified Gestalt Therapist.  She had served as a therapist at Gestalt Institute of Toronto Clinic working with clients from diverse background with a variety of presenting issues.  Currently she is an associate faculty at the institute.  Dr. Savard has worked with patients on issues that include anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, PTSD, family relationship conflicts, couple relationship difficulties, coping with chronic illness and injuries, domestic violence and child abuse, and sexual dysfunctions.  She uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including Gestalt Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, object-Relation based therapy, and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy. She is fluent in English and French, and can offer services in either language.

    Dr. Terra Seon, Psy.D., C.Psych. (Supervised Practice)
Psychologist

Dr. Seon is a registered psychologist (Supervised Practice) in Clinical Psychology with the College of Psychologist of Ontario. Her  primary client groups include adults and couples as a primary client group. She obtained her Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology and Certificate in Trauma Therapy in 2000, and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2008 from the Adler School of Professional Psychology, Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Seon completed her doctoral internship at the Outpatient Mental Health Department at Markham Stouffville Hospital and practicums at the Forensic unit at Whitby Mental Health Centre and Markham Stouffville Family Life Centre. Dr. Seon has worked in diverse settings including hospital, community based agencies and private practice in different clinical capacities providing various psychotherapeutic services including psychotherapy, counselling, and psychological assessment for a wide range of presenting problems. Since 2001 she has been the member of the Crisis Team at the Emergency Department, Markham Stouffville Hospital. Dr. Seon’s primary areas of interest include; anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD and relationship conflicts. At Oshawa Psychological and Counselling Services, Dr. Seon will be providing psychological assessments and treatment to adults and couples.




Dr. Felix C. Thomas, Ph.D., C.Psych.
Psychologist
Dr. Thomas is a registered psychologist in clinical & counselling Psychology with the College of Psychologist of Ontario since 2006. He has 15 years of experience in rehabilitation services working with people with developmental disabilities, and six years of clinical counselling experience with Family Services York Region. Dr. Thomas completed his post-doctoral fellowship in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Unit and Forensic Assessment Consultation and Treatment Program at Whitby Mental Health Centre. Dr. Thomas’ primary client group includes adolescents, adults, and families with a wide range of presenting problems such as anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, pain management, coping with chronic illness and injuries, and family relationship conflicts, domestic violent and child abuse. At Oshawa Psychological & Counselling Services Dr. Thomas offers psychological assessment, counselling and psychotherapy.

Donna Wilson, M.Ed., Cert. FRM (F.M.C.), Acc. FM (O.A.F.M.)
Certified Family Relations Mediator
Ms. Donna Wilson is a Certified Family Relations Mediator assisting couples going through the strain of separation/divorce to find a win/win solution for various family related matters including custody and access, parenting plans and child support issues. She has also conducted workplace mediations for Family Services, Toronto. Ms. Wilson earned the designation Certified Family Relations Mediator from Family Mediation Canada in 2007 and Accredited Family Mediator with the Ontario Association for Family Mediation in 2004. She completed her family mediation internship at the Ontario Court of Justice, 311 Jarvis Street, Toronto where she worked with high conflict families to resolve differences and bring about parenting solutions which were in the best interest of the children involved. During this internship, Ms. Wilson was on the pilot team that administered the Domestic Violence Evaluation (DOVE), to screen for domestic violence. She is a qualified Child Protection Mediator and Parent Coordinator and has taken course work in Arbitration for Non-Lawyers. Since 2005, Ms.Wilson has been coaching lawyers at workshops on Collaborative Law by Dr. Barbara Landau, Ph.D., LL.M., C. Med., C. Psych., and has been assisting in the teaching of mediation techniques.

Ms. Wilson is an experienced practitioner. In her practice of family mediation, she draws on her extensive experience in working with children, couples and families. Ms. Wilson is a certified teacher and holds a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from OISE/University of Toronto. She has over 30 yrs experience work as a teacher and guidance counselor and has helped many youth to realize their goals.

Ms. Wilson has worked as a counsellor and parenting educator with the Family Services, York Region. As a counselor trained in Solution Focused Therapy, Ms. Wilson had provided individual counselling to children, adolescents, and adults; as well couple and family counselling with diverse presenting problems. As a parenting educator, she has conducted workshops for parents with children of all ages. Using her training in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), she has helped many couples successfully resolve their conflicts.

Ms. Wilson serves on the executive of the York Region chapter of the Association of Family Mediators of Ontario and is on the Family Mediator Certification Committee at the ADR Institute of Ontario.

Dr. Kelty Berardi, Ph.D., C. Psych (Supervised Practice).
Psychologist

 Dr. Kelty Berardi is a registered psychologist (Supervised Practice) in clinical psychology with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Her primary client groups include adults, adolescents, children, and family. She completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Windsor in 2003 and 2008, respectively. Her doctoral dissertation was an evaluation of the clinical effectiveness of body image therapy for women previously diagnosed with an eating disorder. She completed her residency at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre/Brockville Mental Health Centre, a well known tertiary care mental health hospital offering specialized services to adolescents and adults presenting with various mental health issues. Following completion of her internship, she was employed at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario where she provided individual, family and group intervention and assessment to children and youth suffering from severe eating disorders and requiring either inpatient or day treatment hospitalization. Throughout the course of her training, she gained experience working with a variety of client populations presenting with a wide range of clinical issues including depression, bipolar disorder, substance abuse/dependence, eating disorders, body image disturbance, and anxiety disorders.
